Just Ron is a whiskey drinker. He prefers Crown Royal, but also drinks Jack Daniels. I think my biggest regret as far as naming my children goes is that our middle child is named William Evan. It really should have been Evan William, or I could have just cut to the chase and named him Wild Turkey

It's Friday! Let's Drink Some Whisk(e)y!! (Responsibly, Of Course)
by Low-Key Lysmith inas some of you know, i am employed as master of whisky for seattle (pac nw).
i represent diageo n america's whisk(e)y portfolio.. this includes: johnnie walker, the classic malts of scotland, bushmills irish whiskey, crown royal, bulleit bourbon and rye whiskey, george dickel tennessee whisky, and bucchanan's blended scotch whisky.. my job basically involves speaking publicly about the whiskies, hosting and presenting whisk(e)y tastings and dinners, and educating bar & restaurant staff about whisk(e)y. tough gig, i know.. my mow bio & pic can be found on crown royal's website here: http://www.crownroyal.com/west-masters/breck-taylor.
i was thinking about putting a featured whisky of the week up here every friday.

Adult adoptions are not common, but they are legal. If she's still under 18, you'd have to get bio-moms approval, or get a judge to terminate her parental rights. I saw a story a while back on the news about adult adoptions - you might try googling it.

A JWN Member just lost her Husband and She could use some encouragement.
by ohiocowboy inon 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.

When Just Ron and I decided to host our first "get together", we had no idea that handing out invitations at the hall was taboo. After all, we had heard announcements from the platform about "get togethers" and "snack nights". We were inviting every single person who ever attended meetings, whether baptized, active, inactive, whatever - no one was left out. Since we were still new to the "truth", not even baptized yet, most didn't know where we lived or even have our phone number. So Just Ron got an earful about not handing invitations out at the hall from one particular ministerial servant. Funny thing, a few years later he got deleted because his teenage son got arrested for stealing cars and robbing liquor stores. But we sure learned our lesson about handing out invitations at the kingdumb hell.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

I am so sorry for your loss. Just Ron and I have 3 sons, and the thought of anything bad happening to one of them just makes me feel sick. Losing a son to such a senseless thing is so horrible. Please don't hesitate to come here for support anytime you need it.

Overly sensitive Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Jack C. inthis is what the world is coming to (article from the arkansas gazette):.
jack.
"new york city's new sensitivity guidelines for standardized tests ban 50 undesirable words that might 'evoke unpleasant emotions' in students, including 'dancing,' 'dinosaurs,' and 'birthdays.

Anyone been to a meeting after a drink...or three?
by MMXIV ini recall going to the second half of a thursday night meeting after what was meant to be a cheeky after work beer (three strong beers downed quickly on an empty stomach).
i would have been ok had a caring elder not decided to grab me for some encouragement afterwards.. i hoped the faint odor of smoke on my clothes (smoking in pubs was still the done thing in those days) wouldn't be noticed but hard to hide alcohol on the breath.
i tried to say very little and talk in a way that avoided me beathing over him.
